How fun are photo booths? When I was planning my wedding in 2008, there were only a few options; it was mostly a choice between vintage-style booths and plain black cube shapes. It's a different story now, though, and today I would definitely be considering Capture Pod - that's why they're in our vendor guide! I love the sleek white round shape, and the LCD screen (that runs a continuous slideshow of the captured photos) would be a huge hit with guests.
The 'Pod' includes a choice of eight different color backdrops, and each time your guests take a set of photos they can choose between color or black & white prints. The booth is operated inside by an easy-to-use touch screen (so your guests can still figure it out after they've had a few drinks).
Each set of photos print twice, and you can customize the design of them with special text, colors and graphics. A photo scrapbook is included with the rental fee, and I highly recommend using it as your guestbook. I still go through ours all the time (I doubt most can say that about a traditional signed guestbook!) and it's always good for a laugh.
Picking the right photo booth
While photo booths are a hot trend in weddings right now, many couples don't have any experience choosing or booking them. To help out, Danielle from Capture Pod sent over some great advice on picking the right photo booth for your wedding.
Many photo booth rental companies don't post pictures of their booths on their websites. Before a sweet talking sales rep lures you in with a great price, request to see the photo booth in person and test it out before making any commitments. If you're not able to see the booth in person, then request multiple images, as well as the booth's dimensions. Photo booths come in all shapes and sizes. The Capture POD has curved walls while other booths may have a boxier shape or be completely open with just a backdrop. Some booths are a solid color while others have text and graphic design. A visual not only allows you to see if the booth matches your wedding's aesthetic, but also lets you see if the booth's size is ideal for your event space. Some booths are as large as 8' x 10'!
Consider your guest listIs your crowd younger or older? Will they know how to operate a photo booth? Will small children be tall enough to be photographed? Ask your photo booth rental company what the start to finish process will be for guests using the photo booth. Testing the booth prior to the event before booking is highly recommended so that you can experience it for yourself. Capture POD booths feature a user-friendly touch screen with step by step instructions for guests, but a friendly on-site attendant is also provided to show your guests the ropes. A photo booth is no fun if no one knows how to use it.
Add a personal touchDoes the photo booth have any customizable features? Most photo booths will let you personalize your prints. Ask to see the designs that they currently have available and what changes can be made to them. Your guests will most likely hang on to their photo strips for a long time so make sure that your prints look the way you want your big day to be remembered. Does your wedding have a theme? If your rental package includes props, find out what they are to see if those props coordinate with your event. If not, ask your rental company if they would be willing to buy some. Lastly, every bride loves her wedding colors. Capture POD offers over eight different background colors to choose from so that brides can coordinate the booth with their décor. If your rental only offers a black curtain, ask if you can provide your own background. This way your photo booth will look and feel more a part of your wedding.
