I love receiving engagement sessions that follow with such a sweet email from the bride. Reading Vasillia's story about Josh's proposal I could hear the excitement in her voice. The newly engaged couple had an adult play date with the amazing Sara Kauss in Tequesta Park and, according to Sara, this couple was so much fun to work with and is clearly totally in love!
The engagement story from the bride-to-be: "We got engaged on January 10, 2011. Josh said he had the ring in December but never could find the right time. So we had a day off together and he asked me to go to this beach park we frequently visit. MacArthur State Park on Singer Island. Beachcombing is a hobby we share and we always find great stuff there. We've been together a long time. We met in 2005 and we've been steadily dating since 2008. So I didn't feel the need to dress up. It was totally unexpected. I was wearing sweat-shorts and an old tshirt. On the beach we saw this old man in a red thing speedo! Josh later said he was thinking 'How far past the old speedo man do I have to get for this to still be romantic?' Anyway, he stopped me and said he had something to tell me and started to say how much I mean to him and how he wants to be with me forever and he got down on one knee - then both because he was so nervous! I was really blown away. We spent the rest of the day on the beach and we didn't tell anyone until that night so it was just our thing for the whole day. It was really special."
After their engagement they started thinking of photographers and were recommended to Sara from their wedding planner Heather Lowenthal of Posh Parties. Heather described Sara as super fun and easy going and she is exactly right. Vasillia started looking at weddings blogs like a crazy person {quoted directly from the bride! It happens;)}. She said she noticed that you can pretty much create anything for your engagement shoot. You can wear anything and do anything you can dream of.
From the Bride: "Unless you're a model or an actor, when in your life would you ever get to design a shoot and have someone take all these awesome pictures of you?! Even models don't get to design their own shoots. I'm very detail oriented and I love decorating my house so I just had a ball with this. I decided to do a picnic in the park. I found Constitution Park in Tequesta. It was great because it has many scenes - walkway with the white fence, the lawn area under the tree with that great lighting, a playground, and a restroom to change in. It's also a quiet place so we almost had the place to ourselves. I think I am most proud of my picnic arrangement and confetti toss." The couple's favorite things in the world are the beach, eating sweets, reality tv, and making each other laugh, so what better way to celebrate their engagement than with cupcakes in the park?
Vasillia said she would highly recommend engagement photos to couples planning their wedding. It definitely makes you more comfortable in front of the camera and it's a great opportunity to get as creative, fun, and artsy as you want.
Vasillia and Josh are getting married on April 21st at the beautiful Brazilian Court Hotel in Palm Beach. When I asked the bride-to-be what she is most looking forward to on the Big Day her response was, "Having our closest friends and family all being together at once and sharing our day. Getting married in front of them and having them be happy for us means a lot to me." Congratulations to the soon to be Mr. & Mrs.! We cannot wait to see the fun you sprinkle into your wedding day!
