Wed: Lindsay & Jack on Amelia Island

on by in Weddings & Such

There's something I find so sweetly romantic and appealing about an elopement. In our world of wedding overload, filled with endless details and inspiration, it's good to be reminded (often) of what's at the heart of a wedding: the simple, beautiful love between two people choosing to share their life together. Thanks to Tania of Clear Skies Photography we get a peek at that today, when after years and years of long distance love, Lindsay and Jack were married at The Addison on Amelia Island with just the bride's parents to witness, then made their way around the island to capture some beautiful moments.

As Tania tells it, "After their short (and sweet) ceremony, we were lucky to get to spend a couple of hours frolicking around to some different spots on Amelia Island for this special couple's shoot, and even though the weather was CrAzY windy, severe looking at times, and threatened to rain on us, it never came!"

Lindsay gave us their sweet story (along with a reminder of what's really important):

"Jack and I met in undergrad. It was a small junior college. He had come over from England to play college tennis. I was a local who had decided to stay close to home. We had two classes together, but officially met through a mutual friend. We hit it off as friends immediately but didn't start dating right away. Jack was supposed to transfer to a different college after that semester, so in the summer he went back to England and I thought I wouldn't see him again. We kept in touch via email and about midway through the summer he told me he would be coming back for another semester after all. I was so happy I started crying. I realized while he was gone how much I missed him. We had a connection immediately and I knew it went deeper than what is found between two friends. We began dating as soon as he came back. He ended up transfering after that semester. We spent the next semester long distance, until I transfered to his new college. There we were finally together for two years, until I made the decision I wanted to go to veterinary school. I was accepted at LSU, and there began again a long distance relationship. We always tried to find a way to be back together in the same city, but something always seemed to happen to force us to stay apart.

"After six and a half years together, and three and a half of those long distance, we were finally married! The ceremony was simple but beautiful; I wouldn't have had it any other way. I think so often brides get caught up in the wedding and forget what you are really doing, starting a marriage. Now, we are finally together, every day, and nothing is going to seperate us again."

We couldn't be happier for you, Lindsay and Jack! Congratulations, and thank you for sharing your story with us.
