No matter how many times I see Vizcaya (either in person or through the work of our talented photographers) it always transports me. The history, the architecture, the expansive views and oceanfront location... it's a truly unique and stunning place. Today's engagement session from Bob Care Photography combines that beauty with another bit of history - the lighthouse at Bill Baggs Florida Cape State Park, which is the oldest standing structure in Miami-Dade county; together, these locations beautifully capture an interesting and beautiful side of Miami, and were the perfect way for Mary-Margaret to show Brian around her hometown.
Currently New Yorkers, Brian and Mary-Margaret are planning a destination wedding in the Keys and chose Miami (where Mary grew up) and Key Biscayne (one of the places she visited often as a child) as the locations for their session.
The groom-to-be, Brian, told us the fun story of how they met: "We had a very random meeting, although fate may have played a role. I came down into NYC for a late Sunday brunch April 25 2010, which happened to be the same day that Mary was taking part in her birthday celebration. Are you familiar with the show, The Amazing Race? Mary-Margaret was doing something similar that day - The Amazing Race NYC. We happened to be having brunch at the finishing point for Mary-Margaret and all of her friends. We saw the big group there, asked what they were there for and learned it was a birthday party. Obviously we had to congratulate the birthday girl. She and I started talking, got along really well, exchanged numbers, and the rest as they say is history."
Brian and Mary will be tying the knot this December in Islamorada, and the story of how they chose that location will sound familiar to many Keys-loving Floridians. As Brian tells us, "We choose Florida because we love the Florida Keys and have taken a number of trips together to Key West and knew we wanted to have our wedding there. We always assumed that it would be in Key West, but driving back to Miami after one such trip, on a recommendation from her brother, we stopped at the Islamorada Fish Company. We took a look around, and fell in love with the setting and more or less decided thats where we wanted to get married."
Congrats you two, and our thanks to Bob and Mariela Care for sharing this session with us!
