We had some seriously awful weather pretty much all across the state this past weekend, so today's engagement session is a welcome reprieve! Heather Rice Photography shared Dana and Dave's sweet outdoor and camping themed engagement session in Cypress Grove Park, a gorgeous site near the equally gorgeous Cypress Grove Estate House in Orlando, and I thought it would be the perfect way to start your morning. Enjoy!
From Heather: Dana and Dave are lovers of nature and the outdoors, so we thought it fitting to style up their engagement session with a camping/outdoors theme. We shot the portraits at the gorgeous Cypress Grove Park near the Estate House, which had everything we needed. Dave brought all the materials and made a makeshift tent, they brought lanterns and even some s'mores, which I used as a prop for the rings. Dana has handmade little special details for the wedding, so it was fitting that they made the props for their engagement shoot together. The engagement shoot was definitely unique and the pictures showcased their style, passion and love for all things outdoors, and each other.
Dana told us the story of how they met and were engaged:
We actually met at work. (So much for not dating in the workplace!) There were probably about 6 months or so where we just hung out with our group of friends from work and then finally, one day, he asked me out on a "for real" date as he put it. The rest is history!
Dave is from Chicago originally so we were there for a long weekend visiting with his family. We had spent several days hanging out with his family, seeing his old stomping grounds and then had the opportunity to spend a couple of days in the downtown area. One evening he took me out for the most amazing dinner ever. Afterwords, we went for a walk through Millennium Park. As we were walking we were talking about our relationship and he at one point he just slowed down his walk, turned and hugged me and said "I have a little something for you!". He pulled the ring out of his pocket and said, "I was wondering..... if you would be my wife?" Of course I said YES!!! Needless to say, Chicago is now my new favorite city!
The couple tied the knot this past January, and we asked Dana to share a few thoughts on the day: We really had fun planning our wedding! We tried to put as many personal touches on it as possible and made/designed practically everything ourselves. Both of us are pretty handy, crafty people so if we were able to build it, sew it, design it or print it we did. It gets a little hectic right before the wedding but we made sure to make a list and stick to a budget and a timeline for getting things done so it really wasn't too stressful. We also got plenty of help from our friends and family which made getting ready for our "Big Day" even more fun!
