Wed: Jennifer & Jose at The Breakers

What I love most about weddings at The Breakers is how each one is classic and elegant, yet so different from the others - everything is so perfectly aligned to achieve the couple's vision! Today's wedding, captured by Alexi Shields Photography, is no different... Jennifer and Jose wanted an intimate, personal day to share with their family and their closest friends, filled with the things they love and that brought them together: dance, music, food and the beach.

Jennifer and Jose met at work; says Jennifer, We hit it off immediately and began to work closely together on many projects. We instantly had a connection – we have the same love of dance, music, beach and food. Very soon after meeting we worked together all day and began to spend hours after work and weekends doing all the things we loved. I finally found a man that could dance well and would dance with me! Eventually Jose branched off and started his own company and I went to work with him and we have been together ever since.

We asked Jennifer to share the engagement story with us, which I thought was so sweet: I had been on a business trip and was gone for an extended period of time. We spoke multiple times each day by phone and skype and I couldn't wait to get home. This happened to be the weekend of the World Series in Boston and the flight schedule was severly messed up resulting in me driving home at 2:30 in the morning. I called him on my way in and asked him to pop in some break for toast as I had ended up missing lunch and dinner. When I got in the door exhausted and tired, after giving him a kiss all I could say was something snarky about him forgetting my toast and how he always forgot my toast. When I went to the fridge I opened the door and the ring was there all displayed with tissues and flowers. Sounds silly but my big issue is that he always forgets my toast. He then turned me around, kissed me and asked me to marry him and promised to work harder at remembering my toast.

Jose had dislocated his back when I was out of town and was determined to get my ring. He spent the day at the jewelers, on the floor, being handed advil and diamonds. When we went back to pick out our wedding rings the jewelers all rushed to see how he was and proceeded to tell me the story – which had not been mentioned before that day.

Now that's dedication!

Jen also shared how special and meaningful the day was for her and Jose: The wedding was like a fairy tale that I never expected. We were very practical in the approach to our wedding and when the actual day came it was so much more than expected. The flowers, the food, the music and dancing. It was truly a magical event for Jose and I and joyous event for all. Some family members of Jose had not seen each other in 20 years and were reunited at our event making the day so much more special. The pictures show four generations of a family getting together for the first time along with the start of our new family.

Big thanks to Jennifer and Jose, and to Alexi Shields Photography, for sharing this day with us!
