If diamonds are a girl's best friend, then The Colony Hotel is Palm Beach's funkiest gem.
Back in May, I delivered welcome bags to guests at The Colony for a wedding I was coordinating that weekend. I was excited to see bicycle rentals, a welcoming front desk, oh... and the hotel's doors are literally steps away from Worth Avenue and the beautiful beaches on the island. What a perfect spot for your out-of-town guests to stay and experience Palm Beach's charm.
So, I put The Colony Hotel on my list of must-refer-to locations when my clients ask where their guests should stay. But, why stop there? I decided to contact Noelle, the hotel's event manager, so she could show me what they had to offer by way of wedding celebrations. We started off at The Polo Lounge, a swanky indoor bar, locally famous for their Motown Friday Nights. How fun for post-rehearsal dinner dancing and mingling! Then she led me to the most adorable pool deck I had ever laid eyes on; yellow cabana stripes, neon towels and umbrellas, tiki style lounge areas, and a pool that was shaped in the state of Florida (sans the panhandle)! Be still my sun-kissed heart! From that point on, it only got better.
Noelle, a recent Colony bride herself, explained that guests arrive for outdoor wedding ceremonies via the gorgeous wrought iron gated entryway, followed by a lush, green lawn called, The Palm Court, with crisp white chairs and arch. They can enjoy cocktail hour by the pool, ordering signature sips from the kitschy pool-side bar and devouring the beautiful raw bar snacks.
The indoor Pavilion can host a reception for up to 180 guests and provides a comfortable space for dinner and dancing. The Colony's catering team will provide fresh & local seafood, comforting home-style dishes, trendy canapés, and custom wedding cake to top it all off. Part of Florida-style hospitality means serving your guests all that our coasts have to offer like coconut shrimp with passion fruit ketchup and grilled gulf shrimp cocktail with pineapple relish or lime remoulade. Is your mouth watering yet?
These images, by Sara Kauss, from Kayla and Ben's wedding at The Colony, really show off the brilliance that this venue can give.
When Noelle took me to her office to discuss their wedding packages, we were greeted by the aroma of fresh-baked cookies from the café. Instant wedding idea: after a long night of dancing and eating, send guests off to the poolside for some cookies and milk under the stars and let them rest their weary toes in the cool waters of that Florida-shaped pool. Brilliant, I know. It's what I do!
The Colony provides a charming Florida landscape for your special day, combining the warmth of Florida sunshine and accommodating staff, both of which are important to me while on vacation. I'd love to hear what makes your hotel experience special. Is it the location, thread count, room service, or something else? Tell me below and I'll continue hunting out the best venues for you to crash at all over Florida!
