Wed: Chelsea & Tyler in Jacksonville

Some simple DIY crafts, collections from grandma's home, and lots of beautiful sunshine made for one lovely wedding earlier this summer in North Florida. Jenn and Derrick are the incredible photography and cinematography duo behind Flora and Fauna and their photos tell such a sweet story for this couple. We'll be sharing Derrick's video this Sunday and today you'll get your first look into Chelsea and Tyler's happy day.

Tyler had his virtual eye on Chelsea for a while, but, he kept his distance until she was no longer in a relationship. Once her myspace status changed, they began commenting on each others photos, chatting on instant messenger, and promised to meet up at one point or another. As fate would have it, they literally crossed paths at their local mall. Instead of stopping to chat, they kept walking, both stunned and caught off guard. Shortly after, Tyler texted her, "I think I just saw you!". Of course, they found one another and as they say, "the rest is history".

I'm sure we sound like broken records around here, but first-looks are the best! Taking the time for you and your beloved to hug and kiss in private, check out how great one another looks, and enjoy some quiet moments before your nuptials can really make the big day flow so smoothly. And let's talk about how great your newlywed portraits will turn out! You don't have to rush to get your photos done before the reception or worry that you're not spending time with your guests. Chelsea agrees with us and shares that her first-look with Tyler is one of her favorite moments of the day...

It was so emotional, special, sweet, happy, and just all things wonderful all in one. I couldn't contain my tears in that moment! I loved that we chose to see each other before the wedding because that time we shared just the two of us was so intimate and being able to laugh and talk was just what we needed to calm our nerves before walking down the aisle.

I love all the little signs that they created to instruct their guests and how they let nature do most of the decorating.

Our wedding theme was a mix of vintage and rustic! Our colors were more soft pastels-pink, yellow, and ivory. We used a lot of vintage items I had and that were from Tyler's grandmothers house like old bottles, wooden crates, old hardback books, lace doilies, vintages cameras and more! I did a few different DIY projects like wrapping yarn around glass bottles and putting our flowers inside, as well as collecting old paperback books from thrift stores, helping them look more worn and old by tying hemp around them for a rustic feel. Our guestbook was a very fun thing we added to our wedding! We used Tyler's grandmother's old typewriter for our guest to "type us a note".

Weddings provide such a beautiful mixture of tears, laughs, releases and embraces between generations of family. Couples are reaching for their betrothed while parents are letting go of their children. There are some very precious moments that occur on a wedding day, you know? Family heirlooms are passed down, a parent walks a daughter down the aisle, treasured words are spoken during vows and toasts, and first (sometimes last) dances are had between two.

Chelsea's second favorite moment of her wedding day was, "walking down the aisle with my Dad and being able to dance with him to 'What a Wonderful World' by Louis Armstrong. It was so special because it was the last time I would dance with him. My Dad passed away two weeks after our wedding and I couldn't have been more blessed to have him there handing me off and seeing how happy he was for me. I miss him dearly and am so thankful to God for giving me such a special gift that I will cherish forever!"

The whole day was so special. From waking up in the morning knowing I was starting the best day of my life, to walking down the aisle, sharing it all with friends and family, to the sky lanterns we set off that somehow all seemed to travel towards the moon. We are both pretty simple, laid back, and easy going. I love that about us. We can always make the best out of any situation. We love spending time at church, going on walks, picnics in the park, playing at home with our three kitties; anywhere we are together is always so much fun!
