About Us
From the Panhandle to the Florida Keys, Florida is an amazingly gorgeous place to have a wedding (and we should know, because we live here). So why isn't there more amazingly gorgeous and stylish inspiration available for couples planning their weddings here? That was our question, and Floridian Weddings is the answer.

Our goal: to bring you modern, stylish inspiration and resources for weddings in our sunny paradise. We feature real weddings from all across the state - from Pensacola, to Naples, over to Palm Beach and down through the Florida Keys - and share the best vendors and venues we can find with you... weeding out the over-the-top, cheesy and outdated and focusing on fresh, modern and creative. We hope you enjoy what we've put together, and we'd love to hear your feedback, suggestions and ideas!

Laura spent her childhood moving across the country (three times) but finally wound up in Florida to attend Wellington High School. She graduated from the University of Florida in 1999 (go Gators!) and spent the next 10 years as a software designer, creating and building applications for a wide range of clients. Starting Make Merry! in 2009 brought her to blogging and, with it, an obsession with all things wedding. An avid reader, foodie, amateur photographer and lover of travel, she lives with her husband in a funky little house by the ocean in Lake Worth.
Signature cocktail of choice: A perfectly mixed mojito.
If I could be anywhere in Florida right now, I'd be... Listening to the band, bushwacker in hand, at Lorelei in Islamorada.
My guilty pleasure: Corndogs. Really!
Always on my playlist: Something silly, fun and upbeat - like Bruno Mars, Prince or Journey.

Desiree was born and raised in Palm Bay, Florida with a few years of Texas time mixed in there. She is a proud graduate of the University of Florida where she was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta fraternity and an inaugural member of the competitive cheerleading team (go Gators!). Along with her husband, Eric, and their chocolate lab (ahem, named, Gator), Desiree lives in a cute yellow house near downtown West Palm Beach. She shares a nearby studio space with a few wedding professionals and meets clients of her wedding planning and design business, Desiree Dawn Events.
Signature cocktail of choice: Locally brewed craft beer!
If I could be anywhere in Florida right now, I'd be... Pensacola. Ever since a good friend got hitched at Palafox Pier, I've been in love with this charming place.
My guilty pleasure: Loaded french fries - cheese, bacon, scallions, bbq, you name it. The messier the better.
Always on my playlist: The Avett Brothers, Florence & the Machine, and Dolly Parton. I love music with some soul and twang.

Becca grew up in West Virginia, graduated from Syracuse University (go Orangemen!) and moved to Washington D.C. where she met her fiancé, her "Beau". After working as a catering and events manager at two major venues and falling head over heels in love with events, she followed her heart and moved to Fort Lauderdale in 2010. In sunny South Florida she met Laura and, after a few nights (and a few glasses of wine) spent discussing a Florida weddings site, Floridian Weddings was born! Becca now lives in a little flat in London with her fiancé, Frans, and their puppy, Oliver. She writes about her life in London, planning her wedding and all things pretty and fun on her blog, Urban Flip Flops.
Signature cocktail of choice: St Germaine & Champagne.
If I could be anywhere in Florida right now, I'd be... Dinner outside at Morada Bay in Islamorada.
My guilty pleasure: Salted Caramel ANYTHING!
Always on my playlist: A little country (Carrie Underwood and some Lady Antebellum), teen pop (hello Taylor Swift!), Michael Bublé to sing to me and always lots of fun dance running music.
