Colorful Vintage Wedding: Ricki & Josh at Hammock Beach

on by in Weddings & Such

Alright, loves - if you're in need of something to brighten up your week, this is it! Ricki and Josh treated their guests to a fun, colorful and beautiful day on the beach in Palm Coast, and Details Flowers & Photography was there to bring the pretty, capture the moments, and share it all with us!

The choice of Hammock Beach Resort was a no-brainer for these two. Ricki had been going to the resort with her parents for years, and always knew she wanted to marry there. Her family also has a house nearby, making the wedding week a breeze. Says Ricki, "Luckily Josh visited a few times and completely agreed it was the place for our wedding."

The adorable bridesmaids dresses are what first drew me in... so pretty, sweet, beachy and unique! Ricki's best gals looked amazing.

Ricki and Josh met while attending Baylor University; they dated five years before tying the knot. As Ricki tells us, Josh, who performs neuroscience research at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, provides the perfect balance for her fun, offbeat personality: "One of the things I love about Josh is he is SUPER smart! I like to think he's a cool nerd. We work well together because I'm the out-going social one and he is the sweet quiet type. He's pretty good at dealing with my quirky-ness!"

The adorable bunting over the walkway to the beach (which functioned as sort of a long aisle for the ceremony) was one of Ricki's favorite DIY projects: "I thought it would be really cool to hang bunting going down the walkway, so it would feel like sort of a tunnel. It really pulled everything together, so it didn't feel like you were just walking to a random ceremony on the beach." Love!

How perfect is the vintage blue pick up truck? Transportation + amazeballs photo opp all in one.

The day's decor was very important to the bride: When it came to picking colors and a theme, it was pretty easy. I LOVE anything old, antique, or vintage. A lot of "vintage" weddings, though, seem to be pretty popular lately, so I wanted to make it different and very US. We are both very colorful people so I picked bright orange, yellow, and blues. Just because the wedding was at the beach didn't mean I needed shells, starfish, and the color ocean blue everywhere! We got tons of vintage rentals, mismatched china, paper lanterns, and even old board games to pull everything together. I refused to use the boring white wedding chairs, so we even rented enough white vintage chairs to seat everyone both on the beach and at the reception!

Ricki assembled an amazing team of vendors, including a few in our guide! We asked her to share her experiences working with these talented pros: Everyone was amazing! Emily at White Blossom Weddings & Events was so great to us. Since we were so far from everything (living in Memphis) she was a life saver. She did all the hard work while I just told her what I wanted. We could never pull it off without her! She even built our cake stand because we couldn't find the piece of furniture that we envisioned holding all our cakes (which were done by The Pastry Studio, yum!).

Details Flowers & Photography did our flowers and photography and we were extremely pleased with both. The bouquets were gorgeous and the pictures captured the beauty in all aspects of the wedding. MMD Events did the lights (great too!). Most of our vintage rentals came from Hemstitch Vintage Rentals in Pensacola - everything they had was so unique and pretty. Jenn Bissonnette did my and my bridesmaids hair. She was so incredibly fabulous and made the morning getting ready stress free and fun.

(How amazing is the cake display? I adore how Ricki and Emily thought beyond the typical table!)

One of the best parts of the wedding was our BAND. We had The A-Town A-List come from Atlanta to play for our wedding and I cannot describe how INCREDIBLE they were. The band knew exactly what to play when so that the guests would keep dancing! I don't think anyone has ever danced as much as we all did that night.

Makes you wish you were there, right? Congrats, you two!

Honestly, I thought I would see shells, starfish, and ocean blue in the reception area. Anyway, the bride’s shoes is cute! It looks like it belongs to the ocean with that blue shell-like design. I love the lanterns and the idea of old board games. It is really unique! But the best design is the lemons at the table and lemons everywhere. It makes me think that the whole area has that citrus smell. I think whenever the couple would smell citrus, they can associate it with their wedding. Lovely isn’t it?
